• • • MORGAN'S ORGAN AT HOME #43: CHRISTMAS SPECIAL • • •

Solo concert by Morgan Fisher (Keyboards, drum machines, loopers, pipe organ, vocals)

This special Christmas Edition of Morgan's Organ will feature fascinating improvisations based on Christmas songs of all kinds - traditional carols, pop songs, party favourites. Played on a variety of rare vintage keyboards. Morgan will also perform on his custom-made pipe organ - a rare treat, and totally appropriate as it has a very "Christmassy" sound. He will also show the 8mm films he shot of his family's Christmas parties each year from 1963 to 1968, always a favourite for Morgan's fans. Plus shimmering slide shows of his light art photography.

Here's a video showing Morgan's improvising and light art.

Entry is 3000 yen with reservation, 3500 without reservation, payable at the door.
Complimentary HOT WINE, tea, juice and Christmassy snacks will be served in the interval.

••• MORGAN'S 70TH BIRTHDAY PARTY!!! •••

To celebrate his 70th birthday (which is actually on January 1st!), as well as the year's end and the start of a new decade, Morgan Fisher is delighted to welcome to Morgan Salon two brilliant rock/blues/jazz combos:

NANKER'S BEST (Yutaro Ogida, gtr/voc & Morgan Fisher, keys/beats/voc) and

KING CAKE BABY (Samm Bennett, drums/voc, Matt G, piano & Hisayuki Nakase, bass)

What to say about these musicians, except they are amazingly versatile and overflowing with spontaneous creativity, music power, and FUN!!!

NANKER'S BEST: Yutaro is a prolific singer/songwriter playing in various line-ups including Japan's finest Pink Floyd tribute band. Morgan's roots are in soul but his career has had him play prog rock, ambient, and hard rock notably with Mott the Hoople. These two dudes have been gigging together regularly for well over a year, offering a rich mix of Yutaro's original songs, classic 60s/70s rock covers, and the occasional Mott the Hoople number. The music is driven by sizzling beats from Morgan's vintage drum machines.

KING CAKE BABY: Leader Samm is a multi-instrumentalist but mainly a totally FUNKY drummer and singer. His robust Alabama voice often morphs into a fine Curtis Mayfield style falsetto. He helms several bands among which King Cake Baby is probably the most rollicking - they specialise in New Orleans music with covers of great numbers by Dr. John, The Meters, Professor Longhair and others. Seriously good PARTY music!

Following a full set by each band, they will join together in what promises to be a fascinating five-man mix/blend/jam as the climax to a fun, action-filled evening.

Entry is 3500 yen with reservation, 4000 without reservation, payable at the door.
Complimentary WINE, tea, juice and yummy birthday snacks will be served in the interval.
