MORGAN SALON #15
: THE DAY SWEET
TOKYO'S COOLEST SINGER/SONGWRITER/JAZZ/IMPROV DUO!!!
Open: 5.30pm. Starts 6:00pm, in Morgan Salon

Morgan Fisher is delighted to welcome to Morgan Salon one of Tokyo’s most entertaining and musical duos - THE DAY SWEET! Morgan saw them play one merry night in Shimokitazawa and was immediately captivated by their strong, likeable personalities. Vocalist/guitarist Yutaro Ogida is a tremendously talented, soulful singer/songwriter who grew up in New York and London. His partner Gyo Tada is a brilliant trumpeter who played with Japanese stars Kome Kome Club. They have played successful shows all over Japan including Asagiri Jam and Fuji Rock. With their blend of original songs, from heartfelt to humourous, plus well-chosen covers (some in Japanese, some in English) and jazzy improvisations, this will be a rich, warm musical evening full of delights.
Morgan will add his keyboards to several of their songs.

Here's a live video of the band, shot by Morgan on May 16th.

Entry is 3000 yen with reservation, 3500 without reservation, payable at the door.

SUNDAY MEDITATION MUSIC CONCERT #21
Open: 6:30pm, Starts 7:00pm, in Morgan Salon

Morgan, while playing in some classic rock bands, has always been interested in the more experimental and contemplative types of music. Since moving to Japan, he has explored these genres: minimal music, synthesizer music, trance music, drone music, ambient music, improvised music, and space music.

After 30 years of exploring, he has reached the conclusion that the best of this music will, and should, lead him and the listener to silence and peace, which can also be called "meditation." His hundreds of improvised performances have brought him the realisation that the best of this music comes from the moment when he is quiet yet alert, with no plan.

So, Morgan's style of meditation has nothing to do with gurus, mantras, religion, temples, monks or any tradition. It is something as natural as breathing, that he has evolved over decades of deep artistic exploration. He invites you to share in this serene experience by coming to his cosy, intimate studio and simply relaxing into the music (and enjoying the beautiful visual images he creates on his wide screen). No technique is required!

Please try this relaxing example of his music/visual art.

Held each month in the cosy, artistic surroundings of Morgan's personal studio,
the Meditation Concerts include Morgan's beautiful light art and nature videos, projected in high definition.

Entry is 2000 yen at the door. Please arrive before 7:00pm.
Complimentary tea, juice and snacks will be served in the interval.

MOTT THE HOOPLE 2018 REUNION TOUR
PREVIEW CONCERT AND TALK SHOW BY MORGAN FISHER!
Open: 6:30pm, Starts 7:00pm, in Morgan Salon

Morgan Fisher is delighted to announce that his 1970’s classic rock band Mott the Hoople will be re-uniting for major concerts in Europe in late June and early July. As a special preview of the tour, for Mott lovers in Japan who cannot make it to Europe, Morgan will play a solo concert in the intimate surroundings of his own Morgan Salon home studio.
Mott songs will of course be featured, and Morgan will talk about his career with Mott, and show rare videos of the band in the 70s and of previous reunion shows and collaboration concerts featuring Mick Ronson, Def Leppard, David Bowie, etc.
A great night for celebrating the band Bowie produced (remember their classic hit“ All The Young Dudes”),
whose appeal is still ongoing and relevant.
Morgan hopes that Mott will extend their tour to the US and Japan at a later date!

Entry is 3000 yen with reservation, 3500 without reservation, payable at the door.
Complimentary WINE, tea, juice and snacks will be served in the interval.
